We were days away from shutting down the Pit forever. It was sad times and I was preparing the cancellation notice. Thanks to a suggestion from a clan-mate I made one last plea for help and was amazed at those that came to our rescue! The Melon Pit was saved…for at least 3 more months. The best news is it is active again! I invite any regulars to please join the forums and apply for the community. I am very happy this amazing group of people is continuing on together.

Revival

I’m not trying to jinx anything, but I’m pretty sure the uberMelons are having a little revival!

Thanks mainly to the fact that Team Fortress is now free to play, the server has been full almost all day, every day!

The donations were met thanks to the few who donated and they are in the server messages, so remember to backstab the guy next to them first.

Replays! I’ve finally been able to enable them. Go ahead and make videos of the boring regular server OOOOOOOOOR the AWESOME FUN TIMES you have every Tuesday with ME!

I’m out! Happy fraggin.

Look who’s so popular!

All of us uberMelons would like to give a huge thanks to all of you who have been keeping the Melon Pit full almost 24/7! We are glad you enjoy our server and would like you to keep up updated with any changes you might think we need to make.

On that note, VOTE SCRAMBLE! Yes, we’ve implemented a vote scramble config due to YOUR demands.

We’d like to thank hyperactiveChipmunk for bringing up the need in the forums, finding the config himself, AND THEN donating a generous sum to boot! Thank you very much!

I will try to start setting up some more competitive practices, scrims, etc. as we get more interest. If you would be interested in joining the uberMelons or competing with or against us, please let us know in our forums!

Thanks for keeping us so active.

Custom Map Night!

HEYO! Long time since the last update so I, Conrad500, am here to bring you good news!

But first bad news…. Drunken Wolf’s Shoutcast every Friday are gone… and have been gone a while…

Good news?

Custom Map Tuesday! EVERY Tuesday the Melon Pit will host custom map Tuesday! We will play custom maps that you can suggest in the forums! WolfBlade usually hosts the night, but when he is too drunk to host it…. scratch that, too busy to host it you can look for either Alennia or I to be in the pit doing all of the custom map goodness!

Wolf will still be doing his Drunken Wolf shoutcasts, but they will happen when he feels like it or when he gets drunk and we trick him into doing it. To see when Wolf will shout join the Drunken Wolf Steam Group to receive an announcement (if he remembers to)

In other news, The Keg is no longer active. Due to lack of interest and lack of donations (don’t you love us? :’( ) we no longer have it. The Melon Pit is still up and running strong!

WE ARE RECRUITING!

Please stop by our forums if you are interested in becoming a Melon or uberMelon!

Wolf’s Shoutcasting

For those who’ve been to the events they’ll know how this pans out. People play arena, Wolf shoutcasts. Fun times are had by all.

This is just an announcement to let everyone know that he’ll be doing it again Friday night this week, with more to follow most likely. Come by, you’ll have fun, I guarantee.

The Melon Keg! Melon Events!

Excited yet? I know I am.

A huge thank you to Kinslayer for providing us with yet another server! It’s been up for some time now but I’m happy to be making an official announcement about this new Fun Server where all our Melon Events are to be held from now on! Check out the new Keg page for more information! Information on new plugins and admins will be kept up to date there. (The shadow template just needs to be added to the header image, I know)

As for the Melon Event, we have a Random Melon event scheduled for this Friday night! The Keg will have RTD and Random Classes, which always seems to end up a ton of fun, I expect to see you all there! Don’t forget to turn off your class configs though, they aren’t supported with Random Class.

Validating

Just finished fixing all the errors and validating all the XHTML on the website. Check out the spiffy links in the footer!

I also finally fixed the damned table on the Server Information page. Woo and yay.

It’s Official

That’s right, we’re now fully powered by WordPress! Joose News is up and running and we await the first (surely informative) post by Aepplejoose! Thanks for putting up with the buggy website while I got everything set up. Just one last little edit left, which is to add the border around the Joose News header image.

The move to our WordPress CMS

For those of you who are observant, you might see that most of our news posts are gone, and for those even more observant you might notice that it’s index.php now and not .html.

So you might have guessed what this means, I’ve moved our index page onto WordPress and we’ll be using it from now on! Some things might be broken for a while while I work out the bugs and missing pages. Will be working on expanding it to the rest of the site momentarily.
